The Inn is next to a large Convenience Store offering snacks, spirits, groceries, sundries and gasoline. There is a laundry room available for our guests' use as well as a small gift shop located in the hotel office.

Cascade Inn perches high above Sitka Sound!

Just a short distance (about 1/4 mile) from the inn is Sitka's one and only sand beach, which sunny summer days will find filled with kids, families and surfers taking in the rolling waves. A couple miles further and you will find Halibut Point Park, a wonderful beachside park with various hiking trails, as well as many picnic sights. There's even a small island to explore during low tide.

What a beautiful summer sunset. Taken next to Cascade Inn at Sandy Beach.

Sitka Alaska is surrounded with mountains and the Pacific on all sides!

Like no other city in Southeast Alaska , Sitka takes advantage of both the open Pacific Ocean and the secrets of the famed Inside Passage. Although Sitka is a modern city, the downtown business and historic districts are built on the same streets and paths used by Russian colonists and Tlingit villagers. The fourth largest city in Alaska , Sitka has a population of approximately 8,800 people with a relatively mild climate, ranging from an average 34 degrees in January to a 61-degree average in July.

Be sure to bring your hiking boots as Sitka has many hiking trails that wind and twist through old-growth forest in Tongass National Forest. You'll find rare flowers like the Chocolate Lilly, below.

Rare Chocolate lilly is often found on hiking trails!

Also, be sure to bring your camera. Digital is great as there's no limit to the imagination when you start shooting pics.

The Cascade Inn is Sitka 's only true oceanfront hotel and we're the closest to the ferry terminal.

Many trails are wheelchair accessible!

Many of the trails are also wheelchair accessible. A book can be found at the Forest Service Dept in Sitka that describe each trail and its health level required for it. Remember, though, Sitka trails are also used by Brown bear. Learn how to prevent startling one BEFORE you hike.
